Project of HSF-France to Sri-lanka From January 26 at February 11, 2005 |
|
By Dr. Francine Drieu pharmacist and Sylvie de Sigalony midwife Recall: Following an earthquake to broad of Sumatra, December 26, 2004, three successive waves, standard Tsunami, succeeded in destroying, of 24 minutes, the three quarters of the coasts of Sri Lanka. Assessment: According to the last estimates on the site www.health.gov.lk, of the Sri government lankais, on February 4, 2005, one listed 212.000 died including 30.959 in Sri Lanka, 15.196 wounded, and 5.644 disappeared. January 11, after opinion of HSF-France., Francine Drieu, pharmacist, and Sylvie de Sigalony, midwive, received the downstream for an exploratory mission in Sri Lanka, on invitation of Ministère of Santé, and were indicated for working in one refugee camp, with Maggona, province of Kalatura. Preparations and pharmacy: Boiron laboratory had proposed its assistance for any intervention near the disaster victims of Tsunami. Francine traces a list from Denis T. Marier , canadian homeopath, and nothing will be refused to us. 3.400 tubes, out of 152 references. The work that I made in the medium of our stay me led to raise in Kent, the symptoms contiguous to water and thus to index the remedies referring itself to it, A solid bag, like a big limps Samsonite, is transformed into pharmacy on casters. The tubes are arranged in bags alphabetically. The principle was very effective, practical, easy to move in spite of its 33 kilos. We drew our closed key bag everywhere, we opened it as one limps and we were useful ourselves Refugee camp of Maggona: When we arrive on January 26, the devastations of Tsunami go back to one month right. The first urgency passed, the families return to one on their places of life and prefer a tent or an end of fabric fixed on piles, with camp. The school is besides well far from the camp, and the school is very significant for all the family, it rate the day and dictates the practices. The camp counted 3.000 refugees the shortly after Tsunami, today there is more than 300. But the families regularly return to seek provisions, sweetens, rice, oil, clothing, and they benefit from it to stop in front of the medical tent for a consultation. For some time the drugs are not freer in the hospital, what a chance, then, this free unpacking!!! It is a Portuguese NGO., A.M.I.(Assistance Médicale Internationale), which ensures the medical follow-up and the logistics of the camp. José, the person in charge, accomodates us very cordially: no the competition in the humanitarian, the sun is shining for everyone especially when there has misery there. They will take us along with them to make the consultations in villages, and will draw without balking our red bag. We will make up to 50 consultations in after midday. It is true that they, will make a hundred of it. Our tent is very white and pink. While Francine questions, via our interpreter, I take the tension, I touch the pulse, I examine the eyes, the tongue, the skin, I observe… Francine prescribed. I will not make any comment on the regulations, it is necessary to go quickly, we have a big problem of communication. The ordinance will be a small bag in which one will put the tubes after explanation and each one from will go away delighted. The following day, it will return with a father, a friend, a brother…All of the despaired cases, old headaches that the paracetamol do not relieve, of the dorsalgies, the lumbagos, eczemas, the cutaneous wounds with strange etiology and which continues to extend in spite of the bétadine, of the H.T.A., the diabetes often associated a malnutrition…I become the queen of the bandage and Francine that of the vitamins! They like our massages, our bandages, our attentions, but when Francine wants to put them at the diet for excess cholesterol, they do not like any more! In the research of the remedies, our questions astonish our interpreter: "how do you sleep? What about your sleep? "" Not, not! It’s only his foot which hurts him " We are obliged to insist. One of the key questions, you imagine it, is how they lived Tsunami. In first intention, they go very well, it is pastThen arrive the time of the confidences. Sometimes a tear, sometimes a silence in any case; never the expression of a deep despair. Our interpreters keep silent themselves, listen with interest, discover the extent the damage caused by Tsunami, they forget the translation of it, and we attend upsetting scenes, we are almost too. Our driver of tuk-tuk, three wheels, so nice , so calm, tells us that it saw arriving the wave, that it was studded with a tree, then saved 17 people of the drowning without being able to make more. He does not have any more a house, the tourists left and its many odd jobs around them too. Then, it rents a tuk-tuk the day and lives in his brother-in-law the night. And to forget the many visions of dead which haunt it the night, it drinks arak (coconut alcohol often associated chemical substances). I give him Aconit 9CH. and Arnica 30CH. The following day, it is happy, for the first time it fell asleep without arak. Eldest Home: We will consult in two old people's homes, in Kalatura, which has undergoes Tsunami of full whip, losing 9 of little old woman out of 30. The other we will seek it on the East coast, with the war risk, at Petites Soeurs des Pauvres de Baticolae Meeting between H.SF-France and H.W.B-North america. :It’s with present, once the finished mission which it is interesting to consider the future. The last day was most decisive . We met, at Joe de Livera, Rita pasquale, H.S.F.Suisse, which proposed to Docteur Peiris, Président of Conseil Médical d' Homéopathie in Sri Lanka, a plan of support for the homeopaths from Sri Lanka, remuneration by H.S.F. of the consultations made with the victims of Tsunami by a team of volunteers whose coordinator would be Dr. Peiris. There are about 130 homeopathic doctors trained in India or in Pakistan. It would wish, also, the creation of House of Homéopathy, opened with all, with library, conferences, teaching… Francine will propose in Docteur Peiris the creation of a homeopathic pharmacy, because all the remedies are imported and make this medicine, a expensive medicine. I suggest accomodating and to form the auxiliaries of Santé, nurses, midwives… a plan of reorganization of recruiting of nurses is in progress . Those two proposals are extremely well accomodated by Docteur Peiris and Joe which had never met. We met, in extremis, the U.S.A/Canada team, of which the famous Rene who with an impetuous optimism would like to go more quickly and further. He would like to place homeopathy on the vagueness of Tsunami, to organize a scientific study of a follow-up of the consultations and to assemble a file "homeopathy and Tsunami" I give him the address of the old people's home of Kalatura and information necessary so that they can find the beginning of a work. But will the doctors agree to open their files and their regulations? We launch the idea of mobil-because homéo. Will be able to work itself in team? Because, it is well a team which constituted itself, this Friday January 11, in Colombo, under the eye moved and astonished by Joe de Livera… An Historic Day.... Conclusion… Nothing of such as the action to progress. Rene thanked HSF-France for having engaged the first, "Speaking it is well, but it is necessary to know to stop this play. France sounded the end of the recreation… "Joe de Livera, the man with whom all started, whereas we visit the devastated coast of Galle, and that I told him my deep sadness in front of such an amount of violence by asking him how we could help Sri Lanka, answered me instantaneously: "by your presence. "To work together, what a filling with enthusiasm challenge! Sylvie de Sigalony HSF-France
